From pixels to paper.
Steps
01
Connect Your Sources
Add your Substack accounts, RSS feeds, and newsletter subscriptions. If you're like us, you'll have a long list to pick from and you'll be eager to get offline.

02
We Typeset Your Issue
Every essay is composed for the printed page: proper columns, photos rendered, and endnotes for every URL. How do we do it? Alchemy, mostly.

03
Printed & Perfect-Bound
Your personal issue is printed on quality stock, perfectly bound, and handed off to a global network of delivery elves. It sounds like Christmas to me.

What we hear most often.
- Do I need a Substack account?
- Nope! Any RSS feed, and most independent newsletter platforms will work. If you can read it on the web, we can send it to you in a Hard Copy. Just paste the URL of the feed into your dashboard.
- What if I subscribe to twenty newsletters?
- We can handle up to 700 pages of content a month. If you can read that much in one month, we might just send you a prize.
- Can I include URLs from sources I don't pay for?
- Yes, you can include any URL. If there is a paywall, however, it will also be cut off in your Hard Copy. Any sources that you pay for needs to have your account connected to ensure the entire essay is printed.
- How is this different from saving things to read later?
- Read-it-later apps still live on a screen, where we all tend to get distracted. The ethos of Hard Copy is to remove the screen entirely: set it up once and never read on the internet again.
- Can I cancel any time?
- Yes, there are no contracts or commitments. Cancel anytime in your dashboard.
